You will need a large blanket for each child (large enough for the children to wrap the blankets completely around themselves). Don’t forget to grab some blankets for the grown-ups too!

➤ I N T R O D U C T I O N

Pass out a blanket to each child. Tell the children to wrap themselves up in their blanket and to sit back down in their seats.

Explain the following: “These blankets represent Heavenly Father’s love for us! No matter what happens to us, and no matter what we do, we will alway be surrounded by God’s love! Just like we are surrounded by these blankets right now!”

“When we feel happy (invite the children to make happy faces) we are still surrounded by God’s love.”

“When we feel sad (invite the children to make sad faces) we are still surrounded by God’s love.”

“When we feel shy (invite the children to pretend that they are shy) we are still surrounded by God’s love.”

“And when we feel scared (invite the children to make a scared face) we are still surrounded by God’s love.”

Allow the children to stay wrapped up in the blankets for the remainder of the lesson unless you feel it would be too much of a distraction.

🎥 V I D E O : "The Treasure Map | Animated Scripture Lesson for Kids"

Say: “Now we are going to watch a video about a mother bird who loves her baby bird. Lots of things happen to the baby bird. Let’s watch and see if the mother bird still loves the baby bird at the end!”

Discuss the following questions after watching the video:

1) What are some things that happened to the baby bird? (The baby bird fell into the river, the baby bird fell on an elephant, the baby bird fell into the mud, and the baby bird accidentally ruined the nest!)

2) Did the mother bird ever stop loving the baby bird? (No. She always loved the baby bird, no matter what!)

3) Why do you think the mother bird always loves the baby bird? (Because, the bird is her baby!)

4) Why do you think our heavenly parents love us so much? (Because we are their children!)

5) Will our heavenly parents ever stop loving us? (No! They will always love us.)

➤ S C R I P T U R E

Read the following scripture verses and discuss the questions that follow.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1) Can any of these things separate us from God’s love? (No!)

2) Is there anything that can separate us from God’s love? (No! Heavenly Father will always love us. He is all loving!)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1) Why did God give up His son Jesus Christ? (He sent Jesus Christ because He loves us! He wanted us to be able to be forgiven of our sins, and he wanted us to have everlasting life.)

2) If we make bad choices or mistakes, does that stop God’s love for us? (No!)

3) Can death stop God’s love for us? (No!)

But behold, the Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love.

1) Who is speaking in this verse? (The prophet Lehi from the Book of Mormon.)

2) What does it mean to “redeem” someone? (When someone is in trouble or they are trapped, it means to pay the price and rescue them so they can be free again!)

3) How many times did the mother bird have to redeem the baby bird from falling out of the tree? (At least three times.)

4) Do you think God wants to redeem us too? Or only Lehi? (He wants to redeem and rescue all of us!)

5) Who else do you think is “encircled in the arms of God’s love?” (All of us!)

➤ C O L O R I N G P A G E S

Pass out a coloring page, one to each child. Invite the children to color the scene from the video. Use this time to talk about God’s love for each one of us!
