Rebekah showed her true kind nature when Abraham's servant asked for a drink at the well. Not only did she give him water to drink, but she perceived other needs of the traveler too! We can learn much from the thoughtful character of Rebekah!
This week's lesson encourages families to study the story of Rebekah at the well, and to reflect on what it means to show kindness to others.

You will need a container with a screw-on lid and several other lids that do not fit the container.

Place the container in the center of the room and spread all of the lids on the ground around it. Ask
the children to look carefully at each lid and try to guess which one will fit the container. Remind
them not to touch any of the lids or the container yet! After a minute or two, ask for their answers.
Choose one volunteer to choose the lid they think is correct and place it on the container to see if
they were right. Discuss the questions below after you have completed the activity.
1. Did the container tell you which lid it needed? (No!)
2. Were there labels on the lids or instructions on the container? (No.)
3. How did you know which lid was the right lid? (Discuss the things that they noticed when they were
looking at the lids and the jars.)
4. When someone needs help, do they always tell us they need help? (No, not always.)
5. If they don’t tell us they need help, what can we do to find out what they need? (We can look for
clues just like a detective!)

Discuss the following questions after watching the video:
1. What did Rebekah do to show even more kindness? (She gave water to all of the camels!)
2. How do you think Rebekah knew that the camels were thirsty? What clues do you think she found? (They probably looked thirsty, they looked like they had traveled for a long time, etc.)
3) When we are serving people, how can we find out what they need? (By looking for clues like a detective!)
➤ S C R I P T U R E
Read the following scriptures together and discuss the questions that follow.
And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.
1) Did anyone ask Rebekah to give water to the camels? (No.)
2) Why did she give water to all of the camels? (Because she wanted to show kindness.)
3) How many times do you think she had to get more water for that many camels? (Probably many times!)
4) Is it always easy to show kindness to others? Or is it hard sometimes? (Discuss.)
And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
1) Who is Mosiah? (A king and a prophet.)
2) Who is “our fellow beings?” (Everyone!)
3) When we serve others, why is that serving God? (Because God loves everyone, and when we are happy, it makes Him happy too!)
