Death & Resurrection (Come Follow Me Lesson for Kids: Sep 21-27)
Jesus Christ was resurrected! Because of His resurrection, we too can find peace and joy, knowing that we will see our loved ones again!
This lesson is a great reminder that Christ made the resurrection possible for all of us.

🎶 O P E N I N G S O N G : “Did Jesus Really Live Again?”
➤ I N T R O D U C T I O N
Give each child a glove and have them place it on the floor. Explain that the glove represents our
body—it can’t move on its own without a spirit inside. Ask the children to wiggle their fingers and
explain that before we are born, our spirits are alive but don’t yet have a body.
Have the children put on their gloves and move their hands. Explain that when our spirit enters our
body, we can live, move, and do things. Then have them take the gloves off again to show what
happens when our body dies—our spirit is still alive, but it no longer has a body.
Finally, have them put the gloves back on. Explain that because of Jesus Christ’s Atonement, we will
all be resurrected—our spirits and bodies will be joined together again, and our bodies will never die or
grow old.

Explain: “Now we are going to watch a video about resurrection. We don’t have the power to

resurrection!

Discuss the following questions after watching the video:
1. What is it called when our spirit and our body are separated? (Death.)
2. What is it called when our spirit and our body go back together again? (Resurrection.)
3. Who has the power of resurrection? (Jesus Christ.)
4. How many people will be resurrected? (Everyone will be resurrected because of Jesus Christ!)
➤ S C R I P T U R E
Invite children to listen carefully to the scriptures. Instruct them to remove their glove every time they hear the word “death” and to put the glove back on every time they hear the word “resurrection.” After reading all of the scripture verses, discuss the questions that follow.
[Read the first part of Isaiah 25:8]
8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from o all faces...
20 But behold, the bands of death shall be broken, and the Son reigneth, and hath power over the dead;
therefore, he bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead.
7 And if Christ had not risen from the dead, or have broken the bands of death that the grave should have
no victory, and that death should have no sting, there could have been no resurrection.
8 But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up
in Christ.
Discuss the following questions:
1. Who will be resurrected? (Everyone!)
2. Who overcame death so that we could all be resurrected? (Jesus Christ.)
3. After we are resurrected, will our bodies die anymore? (No, we will live forever and our bodies will not get sick anymore!)

Color the children on the “physical bodies” page. Cut out all of the children (make sure to cut around
the tabs on the spirit bodies page). Place the physical body over the spirit body to represent
resurrection. Fold the tabs to attach. Separate the physical body from the spirit body to represent
physical death.
Use this time to talk about physical death and resurrection through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
